Fill the Gaps in Your Smile with Tooth Implants
Let Us Tell You More

Dental Implants

Tooth loss creates gaps in your smile and makes eating difficult. It also causes a host of other concerns, such as:

  • Embarrassment about smiling for photos or meeting new people
  • Worry about the appearance of your smile and what other people will think
  • Discouragement when you walk into a restaurant and don’t know what to order because chewing is painful
  • Self-consciousness about meeting a new client or even a friend for lunch

While a missing tooth brings up a lot of emotions, you may not realize that it is also impacting your dental health.

The Effects of Tooth Loss on Your Smile and Your Oral Health

When you lose a tooth, you also lose its root. That root plays an integral role in keeping your jawbone healthy and stimulated. When your root is lost, your bone has nothing left to support, and it begins to dissolve.

Bone loss can mean a lack of support for neighboring teeth and even changes in the appearance of your facial structure.

A lost tooth also means that surrounding teeth may begin to shift. Tooth drifting can increase your risk of developing gum disease, or tooth decay or cracking a healthy tooth. If your bite is not aligned correctly, it might cause painful issues with your jaw joint.

How Tooth Implants Restore Your Dental Health

A dental implant in Cabot replaces both your lost root and your tooth, and it is the only tooth replacement option that does this. A biocompatible titanium post placed into your bone takes the place of your root by integrating and fusing with your bone. Your implant helps your bone to remain healthy and stable.

When your implant is ready, Dr. Fields will restore your tooth with a porcelain crown customized for your smile. Dental implants are also capable of supporting dentures and bridges, so patients missing multiple teeth can also enjoy the benefits that implants have to offer.

Dr. Fields uses 3-D imaging to plan and implement implant placement, which means that we can complete your entire tooth implant procedure here in our Cabot dental office from start to finish.

The Advantages Dental Implants Offer

Choosing dental implants to replace one or multiple missing teeth offers our patients several advantages, such as:

  • The look, feel, and function of a natural tooth
  • Great longevity and a potential lifetime of use
  • Easy care and maintenance since you can brush and floss like normal
  • A smart long-term investment due to their excellent longevity

If you would like to learn more about tooth implants in Cabot, Dr. Fields can assess whether they’re the right treatment for you during an evaluation. He uses 3-D x-rays to examine your jawbone and ensure that it can adequately support your dental implant, and he’ll also determine which type of implant restoration will best suit your smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you are missing one or a few teeth, modern dentistry offers several solutions, and Dr. Fields can help.

For single tooth replacement, Dr. Fields may recommend either a dental bridge or implant.

Tooth implants are ideal because they replace both your root and your tooth, which protects your bone from deterioration while also restoring your smile. Dr. Fields can complete dental implants from start to finish here at our Cabot dental office.

A dental bridge can replace a single tooth or multiple adjacent teeth with crowns on each side that act as anchors for artificial teeth.

If you are missing most or even all of your teeth, Dr. Fields may recommend a full or partial denture. A complete denture is an appliance that replaces all of your teeth. It's made of acrylic and designed to mimic your natural teeth, so you regain the function and aesthetics you lost. We can also use a few tooth implants to support a denture, which provides more security and stability and eliminates movement or slippage.

A partial is a removable appliance that replaces multiple teeth but also lets you maintain your healthy teeth. A partial completes your smile and helps you eat and chew with ease again.

If you or a loved one is living with missing teeth, Dr. Fields would love to talk with you about the options you have to restore your smile. Contact our dental office in Cabot today with any questions you might have.
